Upcoming Events – Oct 2016

Dear Parents,

I hope your boys are well settled in now at this stage, and looking forward to the well-earned break. I would like to draw your attention to some important events occurring this week, and in the weeks ahead.

Firstly, our football team will contest the Cumann na mBunscol Final in O’ Connor Park, Tullamore, this Wednesday, 26th October at 4.30pm. The boys are unbeaten this year and are contesting their 7th consecutive final. All support is welcome, so come please come along and cheers the boys on.

Secondly, we will have our annual Halloween Fancy Dress Parade in both schools this Friday. The 2nd and 6th Class Parade will be at 10.45am in the Kilmalogue School, while the Main School Parade will be 11.30am. We would encourage all the boys to dress-up on the day and there will be prizes for the best costumes, including, as part of our commitment to the Green Schools Initiative, the Best Recycled Costume. We will finish up for the Halloween break at the normal time of 2.30pm.

Finally, following a very successful Multi-Cultural Week in 2014, we are delighted to announce that our Multi-Cultural Week 2016 will run from 5th – 9th December. With lots of activities planned in the school throughout the week, it promises to be another great event for everyone in Portarlington. The week will culminate with a Multi-Cultural Night on December 9th in the Community Centre, from 7pm-9pm. All support is welcome in helping us celebrate the wide diversity of cultures within our school and community. If you would like to get involved in promoting your own culture during the week, please do not hesitate in contacting me in the school.

Kind Regards,

Mr. Galvin
